1. go off

To start making a noise (about alarms, timers, etc.)

  • My alarm clock goes off at 6:00 AM every morning.

2. wake up

stop sleeping and become awake

  • I wake up every morning at 6 AM to prepare for work.

  • The loud noise outside made her wake up in the middle of the night.

3. get up

To rise from bed after sleeping.

  • I find it hard to get up when it's cold outside.

  • She got up early to go for a run before breakfast.

4. freshen up

make yourself clean and neat

  • I'm going to freshen up a bit before we go out for dinner.

  • After arriving from the long flight, she decided to freshen up before meeting her friends.

5. head off (to)

start going to a place

  • We need to head off to the airport by 5 AM to catch our flight.

  • They decided to head off to the beach early to avoid the traffic.

6. get in

arrive at a place, especially home

  • He got in late last night from his business trip.

  • What time did you get in from the concert?
